Remembering A Confederate Veteran on our tree

b. April 1, 1840  d. Jan. 2, 1922, the son of William Duncan Buckles and Annie Ford.
James married three times. His third wife was Emma Lillian Newman  b. Nov.5, 1883  d. Oct 5, 1955
They had:
James Kirby Buckles  b. Sept 5, 1907  d. Oct. 10, 1908
Thomas Benjamin Buckles  b. Nov. 25, 1908  d. 
Ida Mae Buckles  b. Sept. 8, 1912  d. Dec. 9, 1958
James Monroe Buckles (also spelled Buckels) was a Confederate veteran of the American Civil War.and was mustered into service on the August 3, 1861 at Natchez, Mississippi, where he served with the Natchez Rifles, Company E of the 4th Louisiana Battalion. He was a prisoner of war, having been captured in the battle of Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 4, 1863 by the Union Army. 
James meet Rebecca L. Manning in Georgia and was married October 31, 1865, but she was thrown from her horse after two years of marriage and the birth of their daughter. She died shortly afterwards. After returning to his fathers home with his daughter he meet and married his second wife, Anna Holmes on July 5, 1869. They had eleven children together. Then about 1920 he married to his third wife, much younger than him,Emma Lillian Newman, James suffered a crippling fall from a horse, broke his hip , and was bed ridden. He entered the hospital at Beauvoir Confederate Soldiers home in Biloxi, Mississippi until he died in January of 1922. Emma raised her two surviving children, Bennie and Ida Mae in there home in Mississippi.
